The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, convened a meeting with the regional head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Mr. Pio Smith, in his office.
During this meeting, they engaged in a comprehensive discourse regarding critical issues such as the expansion of healthcare infrastructure throughout Afghanistan, the establishment of new healthcare centers in underserved areas, the enhancement of the quality of mobile health services, the facilitation of maternal and child health initiatives, the conversion of mobile services into permanent healthcare facilities, and the strategies for attracting international assistance in these domains.
His Excellency Jalali emphasized the imperative of collaboration with international health organizations to fortify the healthcare system in Afghanistan.
He urged the regional representative to work in close coordination with the Ministry of Public Health on priority initiatives that would optimize healthcare delivery for the Afghan populace.
In response, the UNFPA regional head articulated, “We are committed to augmenting healthcare services within Afghanistan and will persist in our efforts to expand healthcare networks.”
He also provided assurances regarding the ongoing initiatives to secure international support for the enhancement of the healthcare system.
