The Judicial Delegation of the Supreme Court Islamic Emirate of Afghani- stan Meets with the Iranian Justice Minister and Other Officials

On Sunday (1446/7/18 AH) the judicial delegation of the Supreme Court Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan met with the Iranian Justice Minister, Mr. Amin Hossein “Rahimi”; the Deputy Minister of Justice for International Affairs, Mr. Askar Jalalian; as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Interpol.

During this meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening judicial and legal cooperation between the two countries, reviewing decisions regarding Afghan prisoners sentence to execution (Edaam) in Iran, ex- ploring alternative measures to execution, and finding solutions to issues such as the closure of Afghan refu- gees’ bank accounts in certain Iranian cities.

The Administrative Deputy of the Supreme Court and head of the judicial delegation to Iran, Sheikh Abdul Malik “Haqqani”, expressed gratitude for the visits made by Mr. Askar Jalalian the Chairman of the Committee on Extradition of Convicts, and the Deputy Minister of Justice for International Affairs to Afghanistan, and praised his efforts in this regard.

Sheikh Abdul Malik “Haqqani” emphasized that Afghanistan and Iran, as two neighboring Muslim countries, share commonalities in various areas such as religion, culture, and language. Based on these shared values, both countries should cooperate in judicial and legal matters.

Referring to the transfer of Afghan prisoners from Iran to Afghanistan, Sheikh “Haqqani” assured the readi- ness of Afghanistan to facilitate the process and requested the swift initiation of this process once the identities of the prisoners are verified.

The head of the judicial delegation also discussed the extradition of criminals from Iran, noting that some Afghan offenders flee to Iran after committing crimes in Afghanistan. He urged Iranian authorities to fully co- operate with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in extraditing such individuals through official channels.

Additionally, Sheikh “Haqqani” requested that the list of Afghan prisoners sentence to execution in Iran be shared with Afghanistan, emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between Interpol offices in both countries, and addressed several other significant topics.

In response, the Iranian Minister of Justice, Mr. Amin Hossein “Rahimi”, along with the Deputy Minister of Justice for International Affairs, Mr. Askar Jalalian, warmly welcomed the Afghan delegation and assured them of Iran’s commitment to strengthening judicial and legal cooperation with Afghanistan.
