A Memorandum of Understanding Worth $11,456,257 Signed between Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority and the International Rescue Committee (IRC)

Monday, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, met with the Chairperson of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Ms. Shirin Hassan Ibrahim, along with the Program Officer Bostan Faheem, Deputy for Communications and Humanitarian Access Ziaullah Siddiqi, and Communications Officer Ahmad Zia at his office.

Turabi Sahb, after welcoming the Chairperson of IRC and her accompanying delegation, expressed his happiness about the signing of a memorandum of understanding that will help deliver financial aid to the people. He extended his gratitude to the entire IRC team and emphasized the importance of continuing their assistance so the public can benefit from their services.

He further added that winter-related aid should be distributed during the winter season to ensure people can make timely use of winter necessities.

The IRC Chairperson, Ms. Shirin Hassan Ibrahim, thanked the staff of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority for their efficient collaboration and stated that various organizations and international institutions should provide different kinds of support to the authority.

It is worth noting that the memorandum of understanding, worth $11,456,257, has been signed to provide financial assistance to vulnerable families in the provinces of Kabul, Bamyan, Logar, Khost, Paktia, Helmand, Herat, Badghis, Kunduz, Nangarhar and Laghman which includes:

Cash Assistance for Food:

Cash assistance will be provided to 13,160 families for food needs. Each family will receive $40 or its equivalent in Afghanis per month for 8 months, amounting to a total of $320 per family.

Cash Assistance for Winter Supplies:

Winter supplies cash assistance will be distributed to 5,190 families, with each family receiving a one-time payment of $331 or its equivalent in Afghanis.

Cash Assistance for Basic Needs:

Cash assistance for basic necessities will be provided to 7,810 families, with each family receiving a one-time payment of $312 or its equivalent in Afghanis.

Finally, the memorandum of understanding was signed, with both parties emphasizing the importance of continuing their mutual cooperation.
