The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that an Afghan Mujahid, Khan Mohammad, sentenced to life imprisonment in the UnitedStates, has been released and returned to Afghanistan following successful negotiations between the Islamic Emirate and the U.S.
Khan Mohammad, arrested nearly two decades ago in Nangarhar province, was serving his sentence in California.
His release was part of a prisoner exchange deal involving American citizens, according to the ministry.
