The first trilateral meeting was held with representatives from the Ministry of Water and Energy, Breshna Sherkat, the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, and the Turkish company Çalık Holding to initiate practical work on the TAP-500 project.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the TAP-500 project will transmit high-voltage electricity from Turkmenistan to Pakistan through the provinces of Herat, Farah, Helmand, and Kandahar.
In addition to meeting domestic energy needs, this project will generate significant annual revenue for Afghanistan from the transit of electricity.
The ministry further noted that the meeting concluded with an agreement to hold regular meetings between the Technical Committee and the Secretariat to create an action plan for implementing the TAP-500 project.
The Afghan side also announced during the meeting that a joint secretariat, comprising various ministries, will be established to facilitate the practical implementation of the project and enhance coordination.
