Syria’s new interim leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Tuesday to discuss strengthening security ties and addressing Kurdish fighters in northeastern Syria.
Sharaa arrived in Turkey from Saudi Arabia, where he sought financial support from Riyadh to help rebuild Syria following a devastating 13-year civil war.
Following their meeting, Erdogan expressed his appreciation for Sharaa’s stance, stating, “I would like to express our satisfaction for the strong commitment my brother Ahmed al-Sharaa has shown in the fight against terrorism.”
