Iran Agrees to 5th Round of Nuclear Talks with U.S. in Rome on May 23

Iran has accepted Oman’s proposal to hold the fifth round of indirect nuclear talks with the United States in Rome on Friday, May 23, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.

In a statement on Wednesday, Baghaei emphasized that Iran’s negotiating team remains committed to protecting the country’s rights and interests, particularly regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy, uranium enrichment, and the removal of what he described as “cruel sanctions.” He added that Iran would make every effort to achieve these objectives.

The talks, aimed at reviving stalled diplomacy over Iran’s nuclear program and U.S. sanctions, are being mediated by Oman. Four previous rounds have been held since April—three in Muscat and one in Rome.
