Eight more Palestinians, including a child, have died from malnutrition in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours due to Israel’s ongoing blockade, a health official reported Sunday.
Munir al-Bursh, Director General of Gaza’s Health Ministry, said on X that the new fatalities raise the death toll from famine since October 2023 to 289, among them 115 children.
Since October 2023, Israel’s military campaign has martyred more than 62,600 Palestinians in Gaza and left the enclave on the brink of collapse. The humanitarian crisis has deepened, with famine spreading across the territory.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
