CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has signed agreements and cooperation deals with private investors for electricity generation and equipment production projects with a combined capacity of approximately 10,000 megawatts.
These agreements were formalized during the National Conference on Investment Attraction and Support in the Electricity and Energy Sector, organized by DABS.
At the event, DABS entered into a total of 18 agreements and cooperation contracts with both national and international investors. The projects span solar, gas, and coal-based power generation, substation and grid development, electrical equipment production, and bank financial support initiatives.
The conference witnessed participation from high-ranking officials including Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Alhaj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Administrative Deputy Prime Minister Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Director General of State-Owned Corporations Mawlawi Ahmad Jan Bilal, Director General of the Directorate of Affairs Sheikh Anwarul Haq, and several cabinet ministers. Additionally, energy ministers and senior officials from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, along with dozens of national investors, representatives from 22 countries, and the Deputy Director of UNDP, were in attendance.
Speakers at the conference emphasized the importance of this high-profile gathering, the investment opportunities now available in the electricity sector, and growing support provided to encourage both domestic and international investors.
Alongside joint group sessions, the two-day conference includes comprehensive discussions focused on identifying existing opportunities in the electricity sector, addressing key challenges through practical solutions, and highlighting the facilitation measures put in place to support investment.
