Türkiye’s agreement to purchase 20 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets from the United Kingdom on Monday has been hailed by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as “a win for NATO security.”
“This landmark deal with Türkiye is a win for British workers, a win for our defense industry, and a win for NATO security,” Starmer said in a statement released by the UK government.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Starmer noted that the agreement will strengthen NATO’s security and deepen bilateral cooperation in the defense industry.
“At both ends of Europe, the UK and Türkiye play a vital role in addressing today’s challenges. This deal will enable our armed forces to work even more closely together as we deter threats and safeguard our national interests,” he added.
