Mawlawi Mati-ul-Haq Khalis, Director General of Afghanistan’s National Environmental Protection Administration, met with Ahmad Reza Lahijanzada, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection of Iran, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Mr. Lahijanzada conveyed a message from the Iranian Minister of Environmental Protection and formally invited Mr. Khalis to visit Iran. He also assured full cooperation in addressing the adverse effects of climate change, promoting bilateral collaboration, exchanging expertise, and training Afghan environmental professionals.
Mawlawi Khalis expressed his intention to undertake an official visit to Iran at an appropriate time. He emphasized that Afghanistan has been severely impacted by climate change, describing it as a major crisis that requires concerted regional and international cooperation to manage effectively.
