India and Kazakhstan Voice Strong Support and Engagement Toward the Islamic Emirate in UN Security Council

India and Kazakhstan, in separate statements at the UN Security Council, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation with Afghanistan and supporting the country’s stability, connectivity and long-term development. Both countries highlighted the importance of constructive engagement with the Islamic Emirate and the Afghan people.

India Signals Pragmatic Engagement with the Islamic Emirate

India reiterated its support for humanitarian assistance, development projects and capacity-building in Afghanistan, stressing that its policy is guided by deep historical and civilizational ties between the two nations. India’s representative said New Delhi prioritizes a constructive and pragmatic approach toward the Islamic Emirate. He added that the decision to upgrade India’s Technical Mission in Kabul to full Embassy status reflects its long-term commitment to Afghanistan and its people.

Kazakhstan Reaffirms Strong Support for Afghanistan

Kazakhstan said it remains firmly committed to a peaceful, self-reliant and prosperous Afghanistan and stands ready to work with all partners toward this objective. Its representative highlighted ongoing humanitarian support, expanded trade and industrial cooperation, and assistance for Afghan small and medium-sized businesses. Kazakhstan has also allocated up to $500 million for railway infrastructure to improve Afghanistan’s access to seaports and global markets, enhancing regional connectivity and economic opportunities.
