Zakir Jalali, Second Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that moving beyond purely security-oriented approaches and paying attention to Afghanistan’s constructive role in regional connectivity, cooperation, and convergence is an important and noteworthy step.
In a post on X, Mr. Jalali wrote that Afghanistan is no longer viewed merely as a crisis-management issue. Instead, given the current government’s position, goodwill, and economy-focused foreign policy, the country can serve as an effective bridge between Central, West, and South Asia.
He emphasized that engagement with Afghanistan should be grounded in opportunities, realities on the ground, and existing capacities.
