The World Food Program (WFP) has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing and expanding its assistance in Afghanistan’s nutrition sector.
During a meeting between Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health, and John Elif, Director-General of the World Food Program, discussions focused on strengthening and developing public nutrition services, reviewing WFP’s current activities and assistance, improving the effectiveness of nutrition programs, future cooperation mechanisms, and other related issues.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali emphasized that the development of public nutrition services is among the country’s most fundamental health needs, stressing that assistance in this sector must be regular, sustainable, and aligned with the real needs of the population.
Meanwhile, John Elif expressed confidence in the continuation and expansion of WFP’s support in the nutrition sector. He added that the organization is also considering programs to provide assistance and cooperation for earthquake-affected families in Kunar province, as well as returnees.
