A local handicrafts workshop in Herat Province is exporting around 1,000 handmade prayer beads each month to international markets, reflecting growing foreign demand for traditional Afghan craftsmanship.
According to the workshop’s officials, the prayer beads are exported to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Russia and have been well received due to their high quality, fine miniature work, traditional designs, and use of premium materials.
Meanwhile, officials from the Herat Department of Information and Culture say that exporting handmade prayer beads helps introduce Afghan culture and art to regional and global markets, while also supporting local artisans and preserving traditional crafts.
