EU to Provid Over €55 Millon in Support of Education in Afghanistan

On the occasion of Education Day, the European Union announced continued investment in education programs across Afghanistan to ensure safe and equitable learning opportunities for all Afghan children.

The EU said it is allocating €6 million to improve access to safe and quality education under the “PRIDE” project, in partnership with Save the Children. In cooperation with UNESCO, and with a budget of €4.7 million, the EU is also supporting literacy and vocational skills training for 7,500 adolescents and adults in five provinces.

In addition, the EU has allocated nearly €20 million to the World Food Program to implement school feeding initiatives. A further €25 million is being invested through UNICEF to help ensure that public schools remain safe and suitable environments for learning.
