The Director of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Philippa Candler, together with Charlie Good Luck, a member of the organization’s External Relations Department in Kabul, met in Islamabad with Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Mawlawi Sardar Ahmad Shakib.
According to a statement issued by the Afghan Embassy in Pakistan, Mr. Shakib expressed his appreciation to UNHCR for monitoring the challenges faced by Afghan refugees and for conveying those concerns to the international community.
Ms. Candler stated that, despite financial constraints, UNHCR is making every effort to provide the maximum possible support to Afghan refugees.
Mr. Good Luck further noted that in 2025, the organization provided nearly $25 million in assistance to refugees returning from Pakistan and Iran.
