Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has issued a stark warning against any renewed United States military action targeting Iran, cautioning that such a move would carry grave consequences and further destabilize the region.
In an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya, Lavrov underscored that any strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities would be “extremely dangerous,” arguing that it could prompt Tehran to implement significantly tougher protective and security measures.
Referring to the recent 12-day confrontation between Iran and Israel, as well as Washington’s involvement, Lavrov described the prospect of another attack on Iran as “playing with fire.” He stressed that renewed military action would risk escalating tensions at a time of heightened regional volatility.
The Russian foreign minister maintained that Iran remains in compliance with its nuclear commitments and characterized the actions taken by Israel and the United States as highly risky.
He warned that targeting Iranian nuclear infrastructure could trigger serious and unpredictable repercussions.
