Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, held a telephone conversation with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, to discuss regional issues, with particular focus on the latest developments between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Muttaqi stated during the call that the recent measures undertaken by Afghanistan’s security and defense forces were carried out to safeguard national sovereignty, protect the country’s airspace, and ensure its territorial integrity.
Mr. Muttaqi underscored that the Islamic Emirate has, from the outset, not advocated violence and has consistently pursued the resolution of issues through dialogue based on mutual understanding and mutual respect.
He noted that such efforts will yield meaningful results only if the opposing side demonstrates genuine and practical commitment to a peaceful settlement.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey commended Afghanistan’s position in favor of de-escalation and confirmed that he remains in consultation with like-minded countries to coordinate collective efforts aimed at easing tensions and reducing violence.
