Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi: Constructive Dialogues Conducted Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

H.E. Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held discussions with Zhao Xing, Chinese Ambassador to Kabul, on bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and the ongoing Kabul–Islamabad talks in Urumqi.

Mr. Muttaqi expressed gratitude to China for facilitating the negotiations and acknowledged the mediation efforts of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE. He emphasized that the dialogues conducted so far have been constructive and expressed hope that minor differences would not impede progress.

He reiterated that the Islamic Emirate considers the defense of its territorial integrity a sovereign right and remains committed to dialogue grounded in mutual respect.

The Chinese Ambassador affirmed China’s efforts to foster an atmosphere of trust between Afghanistan and Pakistan, highlighting that the process is being conducted with neutrality.

He further noted that, given the regional geopolitical context, it is expected that trust, goodwill, and non-violence between the two countries will continue to be maintained.
