Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Georgette Gagnon, Acting Head of UNAMA and Head of its Political Affairs Division in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the upcoming United Nations Security Council session on Afghanistan, as well as other related issues.
The Foreign Minister described the participation of Afghan representatives in the United Nations and other international institutions as important for strengthening engagement between both sides, stating that Afghanistan’s representation at the UN is the responsibility of the government and a right of the Afghan people.
Meanwhile, Georgette Gagnon emphasized the expansion of international engagement with Afghanistan and continued cooperation in various sectors.
