Mullah Hidayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, has signed a contract with a domestic company for the extraction and processing of the barite mine located in the Faranjal area of Surkhi Parsa District, Parwan Province.
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum stated that the 11.27-hectare mine has been awarded under a five-year contract, with an investment of 106 million Afghanis.
According to the ministry, the contracted company will establish a barite processing plant and create employment opportunities for 300 people.
