162 people lost their lives due to recent floods in some provinces of the country

The Ministry of Natural Disaster Management has reported that 162 people lost their lives and 226 others were injured due to recent floods in Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, and Ghor provinces. Additionally, 8,000 houses were completely destroyed, 2,000 others were partially destroyed, and 3,000 animals went missing.

The Ministry’s spokesperson, Mullah Janan Saiq, stated that ongoing rescue operations and aid delivery efforts are being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and other aid organizations.

Local officials in Baghlan have indicated that timely assistance was provided to the victims, and a committee has been established to gather aid for those affected by the recent floods.

Officials of the Islamic Emirate have underscored their intensified efforts to support the victims of natural disasters.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutiérrez has conveyed his condolences to the families affected by the floods in Afghanistan, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life caused by the natural calamity.

The spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, mentioned in a statement that partner organizations in Afghanistan are coordinating with the Islamic Emirate to deliver emergency aid to the flood victims.
