18 people die from severe weather, including children, as tornadoes strike many states

Strong storms that tore apart homes and left thousands of people without light in the face of rising temperatures in the central US states of Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas have claimed the lives of at least eighteen people, two of whom were children. Authorities in Cooke County, Texas, near the Oklahoma border, confirmed seven fatalities when a tornado tore through a rural region close to a mobile home park on Saturday night.
All that’s left is a trail of rubble. Ray Sappington, the Cooke County Sheriff, stated, “The destruction is fairly extensive.” According to the sheriff, among the deceased were three family members and two children, ages two and five. As search and rescue efforts continued for some of the persons who were still unaccounted for on Sunday morning, Sappington predicted that the death toll will likely increase.
