Afghan Transit Goods Situation Reviewed Following Fire at Karachi Port

Following the recent fire at Karachi Port in Pakistan, the Commercial Attaché of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Agha Amir Farooqi, accompanied by a delegation of Afghan traders, held a meeting with Amir Aziz, Head of the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT).

During the meeting, participants reviewed the circumstances of the incident, assessed the extent of damage to containers, and discussed the status of Afghan commercial transit goods affected by the fire.

The head of the Karachi Port stated that, based on preliminary information, a total of 23 containers belonging to Afghan and Pakistani traders were damaged in the incident. He added that a formal investigation is currently underway to determine further details.
