Afghanistan’s Health Minister Addresses Meeting with 23 Countries on Traditional Medicine

During his official visit to India, Afghanistan’s Minister of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, attended and addressed a separate meeting with health ministers from 23 countries on the sidelines of the second World Health Organization Global Summit on Traditional Medicine.

In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health said the meeting focused on sharing experiences, strengthening traditional medicine, expanding cooperation, and enhancing sustainable coordination among countries in the health sector.

Minister Jalali highlighted the importance of standardized traditional medicine, noting that it plays a vital role in expanding healthcare services and strengthening public trust in health systems.

He further emphasized that Afghanistan fully supports the World Health Organization’s global strategy on traditional medicine and is committed to aligning its national policies, educational curricula, and regulatory frameworks with international standards.

Meanwhile, participating health ministers stressed the importance of joint efforts and increased coordination, pledging continued cooperation to strengthen health systems, expand international collaboration in traditional medicine, and sustain the exchange of scientific and technical expertise.
