During his visit to Azerbaijan, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, toured the Baku International Seaport and called on Azerbaijani officials to facilitate Afghan exports through this key trade route.
In response, Azerbaijani authorities expressed their readiness to support the export of Afghan agricultural products and minerals from the Baku port to Turkey and European markets.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, joint technical committees from both countries have been formed to assess existing infrastructure and transport routes through the Baku seaport and to streamline export procedures.
Located along the Azure Corridor, the Baku seaport currently has an annual capacity of 15 million tons, with plans to expand to 25 million tons in the future.
