Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs meets with the EU Charge d’Affaires to Afghanistan

Today, H.E Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held an introductory meeting with Ms. Veronika Boskovic Pohar, the European Union’s Charge d’Affaires to Afghanistan, and her accompanying delegation.

At the outset, Ms. Pohar outlined the EU’s ongoing activities in Afghanistan, emphasizing that the EU continues to extend humanitarian assistance across various sectors to the Afghan populace and supports viable solutions to existing challenges.

She underscored the significance of relations between the Islamic Emirate and the EU, adding that the EU Embassy in Kabul aims to conduct its activities with effectiveness in priority areas.

Following her remarks, H.E Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, welcomed the EU Charge d’Affaires and her delegation. He expressed gratitude for the EU’s support and affirmed the Islamic Emirate’s intent to maintain positive relations with all nations globally.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Islamic Emirate has embarked on national reconstruction initiatives using its own budget, aspiring toward economic self-sufficiency.

H.E Mawlavi Abdul Kabir described the Islamic Emirate’s relations with the international community as progressing, highlighting that alongside numerous foreign embassies currently operating within Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate presently maintains 40 political missions abroad, with intentions to expand this number.

The Deputy Prime Minister solicited EU support for Afghanistan in areas including development, counter-narcotics initiatives, alternative crop programs, job creation, and the treatment of drug addicts, noting that the Islamic Emirate is independently combatting narcotics. He acknowledged the critical role of international assistance in this effort.

In conclusion, H.E Mawlavi Abdul Kabir affirmed that the Islamic Emirate has addressed all international concerns regarding Afghanistan’s territory.
