Former U.S. President Joe Biden, 82, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, according to a statement from his office released Sunday.
The diagnosis was made on Friday after doctors identified a prostate nodule during an examination prompted by Biden’s worsening urinary symptoms.
“Although this is a more aggressive type of prostate cancer, it is hormone-sensitive, which makes it more manageable with current treatments,” the statement said.
Biden and his family are currently consulting with his medical team to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
