The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, in the presence of the Ambassadors of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, signed a contract for the extraction of a gold mine in Qala-e-Zal district of Kunduz province, covering an area of 5.97 square kilometers, with “Subhan Momand and Reef Group” and the Azerbaijani “Reef Group LLC.”
According to the ministry, the contract has been concluded for a period of five years, with a total investment value of 20 million and 240 thousand US dollars.
It further added that, under the terms of the agreement, the contracting company will pay a 30 percent royalty, in addition to allocating 200,000 US dollars for social services.
Meanwhile, the Ambassadors of both countries expressed their appreciation to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum for its cooperation with the company, noting that their respective companies are interested in further investment in Afghanistan’s mining sector.
In response, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum welcomed this interest, describing the signing of the contract as a positive step toward strengthening economic relations among the three countries.
He further stated that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum welcomes all domestic and international investors who wish to invest in Afghanistan’s mining sector.
