India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire following several days of escalating military conflict involving jet fighters, missiles, drones, and artillery strikes.
The breakthrough was unexpectedly announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform, where he praised both nations for showing “common sense” and resolving tensions through dialogue.
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump wrote. “Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence.”
Shortly after Trump’s statement, officials in both Islamabad and New Delhi confirmed the agreement. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that all military operations on land, air, and sea would cease starting at 5 p.m. local time.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar echoed the announcement on X, confirming the ceasefire and its immediate implementation.
