The Economic Commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, has approved a plan to establish cold storage facilities and factories on land owned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Ghazni province.
Highlighting Afghanistan’s reliance on agriculture, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the absence of adequate cold storage facilities, combined with seasonal tariffs imposed by neighboring countries and the closure of trade routes, has inflicted significant financial losses on the national economy, agricultural products, and farmers.
To address these challenges, he announced that any company or individual entrepreneur investing in the construction of cold storage facilities will be granted a five-year tax exemption.
