Axios reported that the Israeli army began its ground operation to seize Gaza City on Monday, September 15.
According to the outlet, the move came just hours after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which Rubio reaffirmed the Trump administration’s support for the operation.
Later that evening, Israeli warplanes conducted heavy airstrikes on Gaza City, followed by the entry of Israeli tanks into the city.
