Minister of Interior Affairs Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani met with residents of the province at the central mosque in Khost.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Haqqani said that over the past five decades Afghans have endured immense suffering, yet the nation has continued to seek independence and freedom under all circumstances. He noted that Afghans have historically resisted foreign empires and warned that mutual condemnation and humiliation only fuel hostility and enmity. Instead, he emphasized the importance of tolerance, dialogue, and cooperation.
“A government that governs the people only through intimidation is not a government,” Mr. Haqqani said. “There must be a relationship of love and trust between the people and a good government.”
He urged citizens to resolve their disputes through the courts, describing the judiciary as a vital pillar of the system and a source of justice.
The Minister of Interior added that a government derives its legitimacy from ensuring public welfare, delivering justice, and fostering an atmosphere of trust among the people. He concluded by saying that those who were born and raised during the years of revolution aim to promote unity, and to support security and stability throughout the country.
