The Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate has published the Law on Prevention of Smuggling of Food, Medicines, and Health Products in the Official Gazette, following its approval by His Highness the Amir al-Mu’minin, may Allah protect him.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the law consists of an introduction, four chapters, three sections, and 34 articles. It prohibits the import of food, medicines, and health products for commercial purposes by individuals or companies that do not hold an official trade license and a permit from the Ministry of Public Health.
The law further stipulates that transport companies, airport personnel, domestic and international health service institutions, and traditional practitioners cannot trade these products without proper licensing.
Under this law, individuals entering Afghanistan via land or air transport are not allowed to carry medicines without a standard doctor’s prescription.
