The new EU Special Representative for Afghanistan, Gilles Bertrand, met with Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, Mr. Bertrand praised the Islamic Emirate’s achievements in ensuring stability, national security, and economic progress in Afghanistan, as well as accommodating millions of returning refugees. Highlighting the European Union’s focus on the economic sector, particularly Afghanistan’s private sector, he assured the continuation of EU assistance and called for increased cooperation to attract investment from major foreign companies.
Meanwhile, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, recalling the launch of major projects over the past four years, urged the European Union to take positive steps to support Afghanistan’s progress across various sectors.
The Ministry added that both sides concluded the meeting by emphasizing the continuation of cooperation and the importance of such high-level discussions.
