Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Head of the Asian Affairs Department and Special Representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Mr. Bahrami extended an official invitation to Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to visit Iran and provided details of the recent special representatives’ meeting held in Tehran. He emphasized that Iran places high value on relations with Afghanistan and expressed hope that the Islamic Emirate will play an active role in regional cooperation.
Meanwhile, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi stated that Afghanistan has now moved beyond a difficult period, is taking rapid steps toward progress, and should no longer be viewed as a “problem.” He also emphasized that, in line with the Islamic Emirate’s position on the Tehran meeting, Afghanistan’s foreign policy supports active and cooperative relations with regional countries based on fundamental principles.
