Foreign Minister Muttaqi Meets Iranian President Pezhakian to Discuss Bilateral Ties and Refugee Issues
Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Iranian President Massoud Pezhakian to discuss a range of issues, including bilateral relations and the situation of Afghan refugees residing in Iran, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
During the meeting, President Pezhakian described Afghanistan and Iran as “good neighbors” and expressed his country’s readiness to expand cooperation with Afghanistan across all sectors.
He highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations and pledged continued support in improving conditions for Afghan refugees in Iran.
For his part, Minister Muttaqi emphasized the importance of fostering positive relations and close collaboration between the two countries. He called for enhanced trade, joint efforts to combat drug trafficking, and the strengthening of political ties.
Muttaqi also advocated for the gradual and dignified return of Afghan refugees, stressing the need to ensure their safety and safeguard their assets during the repatriation process.
