Ministry of Public Health of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Carries out Awareness Session against Cancer

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan organized a cancer awareness session attended by key health officials, including Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister for Healthcare Services; Al-Haj Sheikh Muhammad Tahir Haleem, Director-General of Documentation, Communication, and the Minister’s Office; and Dr. Haidar Khan Haidar, Director-General of Disease Control and Prevention.

Representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and healthcare professionals also participated.

Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani emphasized that cancer is a global health challenge and stressed the importance of public awareness in educating people about the disease’s symptoms, risks, and treatment options.

He asserted that increasing awareness would aid in the early detection and prevention of cancer.

The Deputy Minister also confirmed the MoPH’s ongoing efforts to expand cancer prevention and treatment services.

He highlighted the 200-bed hospital in Kabul, which marks a significant advancement in cancer care.

In addition, officials, including Al-Haj Sheikh Muhammad Tahir Haleem, Dr. Haidar Khan Haidar, and Dr. Aminullah Momand, Director of Specialized and Tertiary Hospitals, along with WHO representatives, delivered detailed presentations on cancer prevention, control, and treatment strategies.
