Economy Minister Qari Din Mohammad Hanif met with Pir Albert Alsass, the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires in Afghanistan, to discuss strengthening economic cooperation and continuing humanitarian support.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Minister Hanif expressed gratitude for Norway’s ongoing humanitarian assistance and urged the international community and donor agencies to prioritize development aid, support returnees, and address the risks posed by climate change and natural disasters.
He also emphasized that continued sanctions and the freezing of Afghanistan’s foreign reserves have worsened poverty and unemployment, calling for the unfreezing of assets and the lifting of restrictions.
In response, the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires pledged $80 million in aid to the Afghan people in 2025.
