Phone Call between the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Japan

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, held a phone conversation with Toshimitsu Motegi, his Japanese counterpart, regarding regional developments following the military attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, as well as their regional and global implications.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated in the call: “Good relations with our neighbors are very important for Iran, but we cannot allow the United States to attack us from its bases in the region. Our defensive actions are not directed at our neighbors; rather, they target the source and origin of the aggression.”

Meanwhile, Japan’s Foreign Minister expressed condolences and sympathy for the Iranian people and, while voicing concern about the continuation and escalation of the crisis, stressed that all necessary efforts should be made to reduce tensions.
