H.E. Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Met with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
H.E. Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, welcomed Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who visited Kabul today at the head of a high-ranking delegation.
The meeting took place this afternoon at the Arg Palace.
At the outset of the meeting, H.E. Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund extended a warm welcome to Dr. Araghchi and his delegation, highlighting the significance of fostering such visits to enhance and broaden diplomatic, political, and economic ties between the two brotherly and Muslim nations.
Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi underscored the longstanding historical, religious, and economic ties between Iran and Afghanistan.
He expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of nationwide security in Afghanistan after four decades and highlighted that the distinguished reception of diplomats and the continued fostering of relations are indicative of the strong and enduring connection between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
Dr. Araghchi also noted that Iran’s security and stability are intrinsically connected to the security and stability of Afghanistan.
He further emphasized that the recent progress in Afghanistan has highlighted the necessity of deepening cooperation with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
The Iranian Foreign Minister mentioned the challenges of Afghan refugees and water issues, stressing that both should be opportunities for strengthening cooperation. He confirmed Iran’s commitment to the respectful return of undocumented Afghan refugees.
He affirmed that Iran has no intention of meddling in Afghanistan’s internal affairs and urged the full implementation of the Helmand River water agreement between Afghanistan and Iran to address water-related concerns.

He pointed out that the Islamic Emirate is committed to resolving issues with Iran through dialogue and mutual understanding.
H.E Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund stated that promoting an atmosphere of mutual understanding and brotherhood would solidify the relationship between the two nations and lead to the well-being and prosperity of their nations.
The Honorable Prime Minister affirmed that Afghanistan has no intention of harming Iran on the water issue and seeks to address it with goodwill and sincerity.
The Prime Minister urged Iran to handle Afghan refugees according to Islamic and brotherly principles. He noted that the large-scale return of Afghan refugees to Iran, due to economic reasons, cannot be managed in a short period and called for gradual measures from Iran in this regard.
The Prime Minister of IEA also stated that the execution and abuse of Afghan refugees in Iran provoke public sentiment, calling for their compassionate treatment in the spirit of good neighborliness.
