Several countries hold funeral prayers for Hamas’ Ismail Haniyeh

Ismail Haniyeh, the chairman of Hamas’ political bureau in Palestine, was martyred on Wednesday in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Funeral processions were conducted for him in a number of countries.

After the Friday prayer, Haniyeh’s corps was transported to Doha, the capital of Qatar, for his funeral. He’ll be laid to rest in the Gulf nation’s city of Lusail, in a cemetery.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, presided over prayers during a memorial service for Haniyeh on Thursday in Tehran.

Funeral prayers were also held in absentia in a number of locations around Turkey, where protests against Haniyeh’s murdering have resulted in many marches.

In addition, there were prayers in absentia held in a number of cities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, and occupied East Jerusalem. In addition, a number of protest marches against Haniyeh’s death were conducted in Jordanian cities.

A funeral prayer was also held in absentia by the Pakistani parliament.

Thousands of people in Nouakchott, the capital city, and other cities throughout Mauritania offered the absentee prayer for Haniyeh in a number of mosques.

In mosques located throughout the kingdom of northern Africa, such as those in Casablanca, Oujda, and Nador, Moroccans also offered the absentee prayer.

Tehran, the capital of Iran, saw the assassination of Haniyeh on Wednesday. Although Israel was held accountable for the murder by Hamas and Iran, Tel Aviv has neither acknowledged nor refuted this.

The assassination occurred one day after an Israeli bombing in a suburb of Beirut matyred Hezbollah Commander Fuad Shukr.

With both Israel and Hezbollah exchanging cross-border assaults, fears of a full-scale conflict have intensified.

The increase occurred in the midst of a lethal Israeli assault on Gaza that, since last October, has claimed the lives of about 39,500 people as a result of a Hamas attack.
