Storm and heavy rain in Nangarhar; So far, 35 people have been martyred and 230 others have been injured

According to reports, yesterday (Monday, 15th of July), a storm, hailstorm, and heavy rain in Jalalabad, the center of Nangarhar, and other districts resulted in personal and financial losses.

Officials from the Nangarhar Information and Culture Department stated that the severe storm and heavy rain in the province’s center and some districts caused significant loss of life and property.

Local hospital officials in Nangarhar reported that 35 individuals were martyred and 230 were wounded, with more than 400 houses destroyed in Jalalabad and various districts.

Additionally, electricity was cut off, telecommunication network pillars were destroyed, and trees were uprooted in different areas.

Incident Management Department officials have arrived in the region to provide essential services to the affected population.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan expressed condolences to the families of the victims and injured individuals.

Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, stated that all relevant authorities have been instructed to assist the victims.

Government departments have been tasked with providing shelter, food, and medicine to displaced families, while military organizations have been directed to utilize all available resources to aid the population.

In Nangarhar, numerous citizens visited the local hospital to donate blood for the injured.

Mullah Janan Saiq, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Natural Disaster Management, reported that floods have affected seven provinces, with Nangarhar experiencing the most significant loss of life and property.

Mr. Saiq noted that the number of martyrs has risen to 40, with nearly 280 others injured, and extensive damage to agricultural lands and homes of fellow citizens.
