Today, May 11, 2025, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met with representatives of the Afghan Invest private company at his office.
During the meeting, the Afghan Invest officials presented progress reports to the Deputy PM on several projects, including the 500-kilovolt transmission line from Sheberghan to Dasht-e-Alwan, the development activities of the Dasht-e-Alwan substation, and ongoing work at the lead and zinc mine in the Tolak district of Ghor province.
They stated that the transmission line project from Sheberghan to Dasht-e-Alwan is progressing well and is currently 85% complete. They assured that the project will be completed on schedule.
The technical studies for the Dasht-e-Alwan substation have been finalized, and its construction work is expected to commence soon.
The company representatives also mentioned that Afghan Invest has completed the survey of the lead and zinc mine in Tolak district and has now begun preliminary exploration, with over 200 Afghan workers employed at the site.
According to them, the company has started designing a standard processing plant within the country for the mine, and upon completion of the design, construction of the plant will begin.
During the meeting, the company’s representatives also shared a number of challenges they are facing.
The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs expressed satisfaction with the company’s achievements and assured that all raised issues would be addressed.
