The Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority and the Deputy Head of UN-OCHA in Afghanistan had a Meeting

Today, in morning, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mulla Nooruddin Turabi, met with Mr. Kenneth Rogers, Deputy Head of UN-OCHA and Mr. Shams Khalili, the Communications Officer at his office.

Alhaj Turabi Sahb warmly welcomed the UN-OCHA delegation and expressed his satisfaction with the mutual cooperation, stating, “We are pleased to collaborate with each other, and we always strive to expedite the work of various organizations and institutions to ensure timely assistance reaches the people. We have established full transparency within our authority.”

Additionally, Alhaj Turabi Sahb urged the UN-OCHA delegation to prioritize provinces with urgent needs for assistance, such as Paktika, Ghazni, Zabul, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Helmand, Farah and Nimroz.

He further highlighted that in the Darah-e-Bum district of Badghis province, people are severely affected by drought and lack access to water. He warned that if water supply issues are not addressed promptly, many families may be displaced, emphasizing the need for an immediate solution.

In response, Mr. Kenneth Rogers, Deputy Head of UN-OCHA, acknowledged the efficiency and transparency in the operations of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, saying, “The swift progress in your work is evident, and we thank you for expediting operations.” He further noted that, compared to previous years, greater attention would be given to disaster management and humanitarian aid in the coming year.

Mr. Rogers also assured that UN-OCHA would engage closely with the WASH cluster and other institutions to address the needs of the mentioned provinces, particularly the situation in Darah-e-Bum district of Badghis, and work toward resolving these issues promptly.

Both parties committed to jointly addressing obstacles and challenges that hinder progress.
