In the deadliest attack against Syria’s new authorities since the fall of the former dictator, thirteen Syrian security officers were killed in clashes with remnants of the Assad regime.
According to Mustafa Knefati, the provincial head of Syria’s General Security Directorate, armed men carried out a “premeditated” attack on Thursday, targeting checkpoints and security officers in the coastal town of Jableh and the countryside of Latakia province.
