Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, and Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry, and Commerce, Laziz Qudratov, held a trade meeting in Termez, Uzbekistan.
According to the Afghan Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the meeting focused on Uzbekistan’s investment in various economic sectors in Afghanistan.
Key discussions included the construction of an economic-commercial complex in Hairatan port town, as well as investments in food production and processing, poultry farming, the pharmaceutical industry, cement and construction materials production, horticulture (pistachio orchards), and vegetable and fruit processing.
The initial phase of these projects is valued at over $200 million and will be implemented in Balkh, Samangan, and Kunduz provinces.
Additionally, the meeting covered topics such as establishing a regional exhibition in Termez, setting up chambers of commerce between the two countries, enhancing customs and agricultural cooperation, facilitating long-term business visas for traders, and forming a joint committee to address trade-related issues.
