Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro voiced strong support for Palestine during the 24th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) held on Sunday in Venezuela.
“The ALBA-TCP Summit will one day be held in Palestine. I believe in this. We will hold this summit in Palestine, in Jerusalem. God willing, everyone will witness it,” Maduro declared.
He expressed hope that “Jerusalem will once again become a sacred city where all ethnic groups live together in peace,” free from what he termed “Zionist, imperialist, and war-mongering forces.”
Addressing Pope Francis, Maduro urged stronger advocacy for the Palestinian cause, calling on him to “raise [his] voice for human rights, for Palestine, for independence, and for peace.”
He also called for a “historic and indivisible alliance” among Muslims and Christians worldwide, emphasizing the need for global solidarity. “The Christian, Catholic, and all global communities must work toward the victory Palestine deserves,” he asserted.
Maduro described the Palestinian cause as “the most just cause of humanity” and condemned the continued occupation of Palestinian territories.
He highlighted the reported deaths of over 45,000 people in Gaza due to Israeli attacks, accusing the international community of remaining silent in the face of what he termed genocide.
