World Bank: Afghanistan’s economy is growing for the second consecutive year

According to the latest World Bank report, Afghanistan’s economy is continuing its recovery, recording growth for the second consecutive year.

The report projects that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) will increase by 4.3 percent in 2025, up from about 2.5 percent in 2024.

The World Bank attributes this growth to several key factors, including low inflation of around 2 percent and the return of more than two million Afghan refugees from Iran and Pakistan, which has boosted economic activity in the services and industrial sectors.

Despite severe drought conditions, the report notes that Afghanistan has achieved its highest yield of irrigated wheat, underscoring the resilience and sustainability of the agricultural sector.

In addition, the mining and construction sectors have also played a significant role in supporting overall economic growth.
